ULU MOSQUE


The mosque built by a single sultan in Kütahya. He was registered to Sultan Bayezid Yildirim Han Mosque as a sheriff. 48x26 m. is the largest mosque in Kütahya. Bayezid Bayezid When he was married to the State Hatun, the daughter of Suleyman Shah, the master of Germiyan, he began to build this mosque while he was the Governor of Kütahya (1381’1389). However, his son Musa Çelebi (813 H. 1410 M.) lost the mosque due to the fact that he ran to the expedition and he was taken prisoner to Timurleng at the end of the Ankara War and he later died. The foundation of the mosque was organized during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmed Khan.

On 1 July 1522, when Süleyman Khan, went to Rhodes Expedition, he stayed with his army in Kütahya for three days and ordered Mimar Sinan to repair this beautiful mosque. On 1 July 1534, when he went on a campaign to Kanuni Iraq, he stayed here for four days and made his prayers in this mosque. II. When Selim was the governor of Kütahya (1558 - 1566), when he learned of his father's death, he ordered the order of honor to the sultanate on 27 September 1566.

Evliya Çelebi in 1672 that the mosque 180x90 foot is two side and one qibla door is located on the two sides of 57 wooden paved wooden roof with a sofa up to the altar and there are 64 iron bars and a single dome of the writer with the portion of the two thousand congregations on the lead received he also said that the serapa mongoose is covered (1611). In 1805, the mosque, which was destroyed by prayer, was repaired by the trustee and the people's efforts. In this repair, the ceiling of the mosque was made in the style of a crib cover.

In 1889, the old building was demolished to the foundations in the time of Veysel Pasha of Kütahya and the construction of the mosque, which has today's domed and marble poles, was started. The marble columns and plates in the mosque were brought from the ruins of Çavdarhisar (Aizanoi) and the native Greeks were his Ilya and Yorgi ’. The inscriptions on the walls of the mosque are from Halil Kütahyavi. When the mosque was completed, the governor Ahmed Fuad Pasha provided illumination and furnishing and lighting tools.

Wooden mimutant is a very beautiful work made without the use of any nails. The former two-hour clock in the mosque was made by Mustafa Efendi, a famous neyzen of Kütahya. In the right section of the canal there is the Vahid Pasha Library, which is a few steps from the ground and is subsequently divided.
