AFYON

The old name of the settlement is Karahisar-ı Sâhib. The name Karahisar comes from the color of the dark volcanic rocks rising in the middle and middle of the city. The name comes from the name of the founder Ata Fahreddin Ali who lived here during the Mongol invasion of the Anatolian Seljuks. The name of Afyon used today is based on poppy production in the region.
